Benefits of Gingko Biloba

Gingko Biloba

Botanical name: Ginkgo biloba
Other names: gingko, maidenhair tree

Gingko Biloba is the oldest living fossil tree in the world and is native to Asia. Now it is cultivated worldwide. As the seasons transition into fall in Korea, the green fan-shaped leaves turn yellow, and as the leaves spin and spiral down to the ground covering sidewalks, I'm reminded of the yellow brick road from Wizard of Oz. Each step on the yellow gingko road is an action that we take on our life journey, finding our way home.

Gingko leaf extract has many cognitive benefits such as boosting memory and concentration. The special extracts of gingko provides blood flow to protect brain tissue from damaging effects of free radicals and toxins. It contains antioxidants and phytochemical that helps fight disease, normalizing an increased microvascular permeability effect. Whether we take gingko in powder, supplement, or tea form I'm reminded of the longevity the plant has had as the oldest living tree species.
